Famous football players opened the FAN CUP tournament in Varna

The series of mini-football competitions started in April in Stara Zagora, then passed through Pazardzhik, Sandanski, Gorna Oryahovitsa, Montana and Sofia

Two of the most famous football players of the Northeast and legends of the football clubs “Cherno more” and “Spartak” – Varna started the “FAN CUP” tournament in Varna, the sea capital of Bulgaria. The largest amateur chain in Bulgaria gathered on the courts in the national sports base “Sportpalace” the elite teams from the region, which will broadcast two new winning teams for the grand finale in Albena in the fall.

At the opening ceremony, those present were greeted by local football legends Stefan Bogomilov from the FC Cherno more and Dimitar Trendafilov from Spartak, who drew lots and wished success to the participants. Among the official guests were also Ivo Artimenko – Executive director of “Sportpalace” and his deputy Peter Petrov. All of them were awarded special prizes in recognition of their extreme efforts and achievements in the field of sports in Varna. “I wish you to enjoy the game. These tournaments are a wonderful idea, real incentive and support for amateur football, which is the most popular sport in Bulgaria, ” said Bogomilov. Ivo Artimenko, for his part, wished the matches to pass without injuries and invited all participants from now on to the next edition of the tournament next year.

The finalists in each city ensure their participation in the international final tournament, which is scheduled for mid-September by the sea with the participation of teams from 10 countries.

Immediately after the first referee signal in “Sportpalace”, the teams embarked on a fierce battle with the matches in the preliminary groups, which will determine the quarterfinalists. Tomorrow, Sunday from 9.30 am, the direct eliminations are scheduled, at 13.00 the final will start, immediately after that is the awarding and closing of the tournament.

Among the partners of the organizers from the “Association Sport in the Free Time” in the implementation of the project under the Erasmus + program of the European Union are the European Football Development Network, the European Federation of Mini-Football, the famous Football clubs Ferencvaros from Hungary and Vitesse from the Netherlands, to name but a few.

After Varna this weekend, the series of amateur tournaments FAN CUP will end with the Grand Final, scheduled for September 13-17 in Albena. Along with the Bulgarian finalists, the best amateur teams of 10 European countries will take part in it – the Netherlands, Italy, Turkey, Slovenia, Romania, Hungary, Slovakia, Portugal, and others.
